New SkipScreen! “Listen first” on zShare and support for a new site!

The new SkipScreen is live! As promised, we have finally added a “listen-first” option for zShare, for all the music blog readers and DJs who only download music they really want (me, I just download everything and delete later).

Skipping the streaming audio is enabled by default, but if you’d like to listen first, just uncheck the “Skip zShare Audio” checkbox in your SkipScreen Preferences.

Also, you’ll notice that there’s a new site in the list of skippers, uploaded.to. Like rapidshare, the uploaded.to skipper includes support for auto-reloads when you’re downloading a file simultaneously, or when you’ve exceeded the download limit for a certain period of time. This way, you can open a bunch of tabs, and SkipScreen will do the work for you.

The biggest news, though, is that if all goes well we should have support for Megaupload CAPTCHA skipping in the next release. No more entering in those annoying three letters. More on that soon…

  1. I really appreciate what you guys do. Thank you for taking the time and making this addon

  2. Who saw the news ? =P
I want to skip this Captcha ! =D

  3. Love Skipscreen! Thanks for this nifty little add-on. Can you add an option to prioritize preferences though?

Say if I like Zshare, I’d like for Zshare to be used whenever available. I just despise Depositfiles and it’s many limits (no multi-file dling simultaneously, then there’s the 20-min wait…) and it seems to be the first choice. Once I had to go back to the sharebee link up to 10 times (no joking!) just to get a different host.

  4. Kickass, I have this cool Greasemonkey script which fills in the captcha; combined with SkipScreen then there is no waiting at all for MU

  5. Please also include ifile.it support for skipscreen … it always displays a annoying ‘request download ticket’ before downloading … i tried to eliminate it by greasemonkey script but could not.

    Thanks,

    Niraj

ifile.it is on our list, but there are quite a few sites ahead of it in terms of priorities. We should get to it someday, though!

  6. I love Megaupload, but one thing that I can hardly tolerate are those annoying CAPTCHA things. If you can make it so that we don’t have to type in those irritating codes, that would be outstanding!!

  7. One big issue: I downloaded the add-on since I desired to make away with the rapidshare timers, but apparentely it’s exactly the same as not having it. The timer is still in effect and the addon just tells me “it’ll start downloading the file as soon as it’s available”.

I might as well fiddle with the java script manually to deal with the timer then.

Yeah, on rapidshare, they don’t make the link available from the server until after the countdown. So we’re pretty sure there’s nothing we can do with javascript to speed this up (or we would’ve done it already).

BUT… with skipscreen, the cool thing is that you don’t have to spend that time waiting. You just open the tab in the background, and skipscreen will make sure the file gets downloaded. So, the download doesn’t start instantaneously, but the point where you don’t have to think about it anymore does start instantaneously.

Indeed, no more “re-waits” because I spent 60 seconds instead of 40 waiting. As soon as it’s ready, pow: download ;)

I just tried it out on zshare, and it works flawlessly. It’s a shame I have to use firefox (I kinda have this passion for IE, since firefox hates many websites that I visit, hehe).

  9. A passion for IE? Is that a disease? I’ve never heard anyone say they “had” to use firefox..

  10. Heh, Firefox and its “crazy” standards compliance. ;)
